Frieda Belle Wilson LaVelle


Frieda Belle Wilson Lavelle (Aunt Frieda), 86, died Wednesday, January 4, 1995 at Edan Park Nursing Home.


Born on January 10, 1908 in Bolton Landing, she was the daughter of H. Henry and Mary E. (Lenox) Wilson.


Mrs. LaVelle graduated from Bolton Union School in 1925 and attended Normal School.


She worked from Remington Arms in Ilion in the early 1940s. She was a veteran of World War II, serving as a cook in the WAAC (Womens Auxiliary Army Corps). She was a Past Commander of Armerican Legion Bolton Post #961 and a long time member of the Bolton Chamber of Commerce. At Eden Park Nursing Home whe was the Past Secretary of the Resident Councel during which time she received from Congressman Jerry Solomon an American flag that has flown over the Capitol building in Washington D.C. More recently she served as Honorary Chaplain at Eden Park.


Her husband, William B. LaVelle predeceased her Four sisters, E. Rosanna Wilson, Stella K Wilson, Mary E Wilson Roberts and Frances A Wilson Hitchcock also died before her. Survivors include nephews, Derry Roberts of Bolton Landing, David Hitchcock of Orinsky Falls, nieces Mary Bet Haux, Sandra Pratt and Nancy Klick all of Bolton Landing, and Ann Brown of Littleton, CO., her famiy at Eden Park and many greate and great-great-nephews and neices.
